Regan, the 1:1-scale bust from the movie *The Exorcist*, comes with a brown wig that doesn't match the original, which is chestnut brown...

 Numerous "bubbles" are visible on the surface, a sign of a poorly executed casting. This is unforgivable on the part of the manufacturer at this scale...

Painting

 Painting... First, I applied a base coat of white TAMIYA paint with an airbrush... Then I used a flesh-colored paint from LIFETONE; since it was too pink, I added a light coat of orange-toned TAMIYA flesh paint, which, once thinned, suited me better.... The shadows were then applied using a LIFETONE brown...

When I say "brush," most of them are actually paintbrushes. I could continue with the airbrush, but I really like using paintbrushes... And with oil paints, I have a wider range of shades available. First, I apply a light wash of LEFRANC & BOURGEOIS “bitumen lacquer” over the entire surface, then pure Burnt Umber on the pre-shaded areas...

 I'll continue with some pinkish shades, which I'll apply seamlessly from my orange shade around the eyes and then onto my lips (using a fine brush this time). I don't like the pink eyelids—I'll darken them later...

After another two to three hours of work... First, the scars with black and Alizarin Carmine (similar to Madder Carmine or Alizarin Crimson—these are translucent dark reds). This creates a dark purple for the deepest part... Then I apply red and pink as I work my way up. Later, the colors will be enhanced with a glossy varnish...

The four photos above: I made several touch-ups because, after it dried, I realized some areas needed more paint—black in the deepest recesses (creases around the nose, mouth, and eyes) and a little orange in certain spots. The outlines of the scars... The whites of the eyes are painted—white plus a touch of blue (Citadel acrylic)...

The Eyes

Eye painting: I'm going to paint hazel eyes with a demonic look. Only the outline will be brownish-green. I’m mixing Burnt Umber with green to get a “goose poop” color. It’s true that it’s better to go for a side view. On this figure, the pupils and irises were sculpted, so I painted within the outlined areas...

Then I melt some white chocolate inside...

All that's left to paint is the iris. Below are the (almost) final photos. I made the last few touch-ups, especially on the eyes, and applied a glossy varnish. The finishing touches will be the wig (I’ll have to improvise as a hairdresser!!!) and a nightgown draped over my shoulders… It gives a “doll-like” effect, but given the theme, I’m not ashamed of it…

Hair

Then I secured everything in place, dressed the model, styled the hair with hairspray, and airbrushed it a chestnut brown... I'm halfway there...
